Ah, the weekly training post. This week proved difficult. I’m up to 35 miles a week right now and still climbing, but the weather is getting in the way. I actually found it hard to get all 35 miles in this week which never happens. I did what I could and it worked out okay in the end.
Sun-7.5 easy
Mon-8.3 easy. I had trouble getting myself out the door. I don’t know what was wrong with me, but I woke up just not in the mood to go. I knew I had to (and I actually did want to run) but I couldn’t make myself get out the door in the morning. I wore my running clothes all day until about 3 when I knew I had no choice but to get the miles in before our friends came over, so I headed out and it ended up not being so bad.
Tues- 4.5 Christmas day. Funny story about this one. Actually, not funny at all. After we got home from midnight mass, I was wiped, so I didn’t wake up until 8:45 when my dad woke me up. Unfortunately, we had to leave the house by 11 to get to my cousins so that kind of put a damper on my running plans, making it hard to squeeze in the miles later in the week.
Wed- 8.3 easy.
Thurs-NOTHING. This is the first day that I didn’t move off the couch in years. Literally, I don’t remember a time when I didn’t go for a walk, do abs, elliptical, yoga, zumba, something! Nope, not this day. We had a big storm hit that made the roads bad enough that I couldn’t run (duh) or drive to the gym, so a movie/couch day it was!
Fri-Skiing. I haven’t skiied in 4 years and we went up to Sunday River for the weekend. My shins were killinggg me thanks to old ski boots (and by old I mean I’ve had them since the 7th or 8th grade. And for some reason didn’t fit my skis so I had to rent them… uhh who used my skis last? Fess up.) and by the end I was so cold I couldn’t feel my toes. Worth it for skiing!
Sat- Skiing day 2 + 6.5. Sore today, but in a good way. I missed this so much, I’ll be hopefully getting in 2-4 more days in while I’m home. How can I not take advantage of this New England winter?
Total- 35 miles
I already talked about my running goals for the new year last week so I don’t need to rehash those, but I will say that I’m going to start out 2013 on the right foot at 40 miles next week! I’m really excited to be getting closer to where I was before taper/recovery began and will continue getting closer to that 50 mile marker in the coming weeks. I’m planning on doing more cross training than ever this week too, along with a new years day race, so it should be a good week of training to rehash next Sunday
What are your 2013 goals?
Anyone racing on New Years Day?
